Thermal Insulation Mechanic

No person may install or alter thermal system insulation for heating, ventilating, cooling, plumbing or refrigeration systems on or in a building, except as provided in s. 101.136 (6) (a) 2., Stats., unless the person holds a license or registration issued by the department as a thermal insulation mechanic, thermal insulation apprentice or a thermal insulation helper.

Requirements of Credential: Thermal insulation mechanics are responsible for the installation or alteration of thermal system insulation. Thermal insulation mechanics over seeing projects shall utilize the appropriately licensed or registered individuals to install or maintain the thermal system insulation.

Education Hours Required to Renew: The renewal of a license as a thermal insulation mechanic shall be contingent upon obtaining at least 12 hours of acceptable continuing education three months prior to the expiration date of their credential which is two years after the start date of your credential. Reason for Credential: A person who holds a credential issued by the department as a certified commercial plumbing inspector may conduct inspections of public buildings and places of employment for the purpose of administering and enforcing the Plumbing Code.  Requirements of Credential: A person who inspects public buildings and places of employment as a certified commercial plumbing inspector shall: - Maintain a record of the inspections made including the date and the findings of the inspections;  - Provide a copy of the inspection report to the owner of the property or his or her agent; and -Make available to the department upon request his or her inspection records.  A person who holds the credential shall carry on his or her person the credential issued by the department while performing or conducting the activity or activities permitted under the credential.

Udc Plumbing Inspector, One And Two Family Homes

Reason for Credential: Pursuant s. 101.66 (2), Stats., no person may conduct the inspection of one- and two-family dwellings for the purpose of administering and enforcing chs. Comm 25 and Comm 82 and 84 unless the person holds a credential issued by the department as a certified UDC-plumbing inspector.

Requirements of Credential: A person who inspects one- and two-family dwellings as a certified UDC-plumbing inspector shall:

- Maintain a record of the inspections made, including the date and the findings of the inspections;

- Provide a copy of the inspection report to the property owner or his or her agent, and

- Make available to the department upon request his or her inspection records.

A person who holds the credential shall carry on his or her person the credential issued by the department while performing or conducting the activity or activities permitted under the credential.

Master Plumber

Reason for Credential: Except as provided under s. 145.06 (4) Stats., and pursuant to s. 145.06, Stats., no person may install plumbing unless the person holds a credential issued by the department as a licensed master plumber, licensed master plumber restricted, licensed journeyman plumber, licensed journeyman plumber-restricted, registered plumbing apprentice, registered plumbing learner-restricted, registered utility contractor or registered pipe layer.

Requirements of Credential: A person who as a licensed master plumber is responsible for the installation or modification of plumbing shall utilize the appropriate credentialed persons to install or modify plumbing. Reason for Credential: Except as provided under s. 145.06 (4) Stats., and pursuant to s. 145.06, Stats., no person may install plumbing unless the person holds a credential issued by the department as a licensed master plumber, licensed master plumber restricted, licensed journeyman plumber, licensed journeyman plumber-restricted, registered plumbing apprentice, registered plumbing learner-restricted, registered utility contractor or registered pipe layer. Pipelayer

A person who holds the credential shall carry on his or her person the credential issued by the department while performing or conducting the activity or activities permitted under the credential.

Pump Installer, Groundwater

A license is necessary for installing or replacing a pump in a drinking water well.

Prerequisites:

Must complete an exam and be approved by Department of Natural Resource (DNR) staff. Exams are offered at a different DNR station the first Wednesday of even numbered months.

New licenses are effective from the date the initial fee is received until 12/31 of the calendar year. Fees: $50

Renewal licenses are valid for 1 year beginning on 1/1 and ending on 12/31; Continuing Education:  6 hour continuing education class.  These hours must be acquired at Department of Natural Resources (DNR) approved sessions.

The DNR and Wisconsin Water Well Association jointly present about 8 sessions, throughout the winter months. The four hour portion of education must be at one of these 8 sessions. Attending the entire day completes the required 6 hours.

Underground Tank System Installer

This license allows a person to install an underground tank system which is to hold flammable or combustible liquids.

Wisconsin Statutes: Storage of flammable, combustible and hazardous liquids (S. 101.09 Section 3)

Administrative Rules/Codes: Underground tank system installers (Comm 5.85)

No person may install an underground tank system that is regulated under ch. Comm 10 unless:

(a) The person holds a certification issued by the department as a certified underground tank system installer; or

(b) The person is under the direct supervision of another person who holds a certification issued by the department as a certified underground tank system installer.

Tank System Liner

This license allows a person to line a tank system which has held or will hold flammable or combustible liquids.

Obtaining an initial license applies to applicants seeking the credential for the first time, may be used as an option in lieu of the renewal requirements, and must be used by applicants wishing to re-obtain a credential which has been expired for more than one credential cycle.

An examination is required for this credential.
