The Amarillo College Machining Technology program is accredited by the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS), which gives graduates of the program a clear advantage as they enter the job market. AC students are trained to meet the highest standards for precision metal working. Graduates of the program join the workforce with both confidence and competence.

What can you do with a Machining Technology degree or certificate?


Machinists set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. Tools include lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders. Machinists also fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.
