Music AAS – Recording Technology Program
Code: AAS.MUSC.REC.TECH
The Recording Technology program is recommended for students who wish to pursue a variety of careers utilizing audio production skills. Unlike the AFA in Music, this program does not require the musicianship or general education coursework recommended for transfer to a bachelor’s degree in music, but rather focuses specifically on audio production for the music and film/video industries with opportunities to explore radio and TV production through courses in the college’s Broadcasting program. AAS Recording Technology are encouraged to do co-op internships as part of their coursework.
Program Learning Outcomes
- Use the tools of music production including microphones, signal processors, mixing consoles, sequencers and Digital Audio Workstations to effectively engineer and produce music across a broad range of acoustic and electronic based genres.
- Apply critical listening skills and the concepts of audio theory and acoustics to record, edit, mix and master music and audiovisual media.
- Demonstrate a solid knowledge of audio signal flow to facilitate the setup, use, and troubleshooting of audio equipment.
- Design and optimize workstations and spaces for both music production and audiovisual media applications.
