What is Medical Information Technology?

The Medical Information Technology Program affords students the opportunity to specialize in the medical information technology field through a variety of credentials and options. Students receive training in medical records, transcription, accounting, medical insurance and coding, and electronic medical software as well as basic computer applications.

What are my career options?

Medical records and health information technicians are mostly in offices of physicians, nursing care facilities, outpatient care centers, and home health care services. Insurance firms that deal in health matters employ a small number of health information technicians to tabulate and analyze health information. Public health departments also employ technicians to supervise data collection from health care institutions and to assist in research.

Length of Program
