What You’ll Learn

“Some people run from problems. Others run to them. We call them heroes.” – Unknown

Held up as heroes by many, firefighters risk their lives to save others and at Blackhawk Technical College we are proud to offer exceptional training opportunities in fire protection, fire prevention, and fire engineering that will prepare you for a career that focuses on saving lives.

Many people who pursue this career path work part-time or full time while they are in school. For that reason, this program offers students the chance to earn a degree through a wide range of learning options including online or face to face classes and flexible labs.

Hundreds of fire technicians in Rock and Green counties have graduated from BTC. The curriculum is intended to offer individuals professional and technical knowledge to make decisions regarding fire protection in both public and private domains. It also provides a stable foundation for continuous higher learning in fire protection, administration, and management or a career in sales and services with companies that manufacture and distribute fire protection equipment and related supplies.
