What is Health Science Technology?

Health Science Technology (HST) is designed to prepare students for entry-level career opportunities in the field of health care and health-related services.  Many of the general education and core courses are required courses for completion of varied professional health programs, providing a seamless transition into a selective admission program.

The Health Science Technology degree also allows students to pursue specific certificates that prepare them for careers in areas such as Certified Nursing Assistant, Medical Coding, Entry-level Pharmacy Technician, Recovery Coach, Emergency Medical Technician, and Phlebotomy, among others. Students awaiting admission to a selective admission program (Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Nursing, Radiography, Respiratory Care, and Surgical Technology) may be placed in the Health Science Technology degree option.

Admission Requirements

Admission to certificate courses (nursing, phlebotomy, pharmacy) requires students to meet the minimum requirement for enrollment and admission to program by program coordinator.
