What is Business Administration?
Business Administration is an associate degree program at Bluegrass Community and Technical College that prepares students for a variety of careers in business. A core curriculum provides students with a foundation of knowledge applicable to any business career. The Business Administrative Program at BCTC offers Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degrees in Business Management, Marketing and Retailing, Real Estate Management, Hospitality Management, Human Resource Management, and Equine Business Management.
Certificates are also offered for several career-oriented options. Certificates available at BCTC include Pre-Licensing for Real Estate, Entrepreneurship, Hospitality Management, Operations Management, Supervisory Management and Team Leadership.
The curriculum is designed for those who seek entry level jobs as well as for currently employed individuals wishing to enhance their skills.
Management and Marketing Tracks
Business Management
Classes are offered at Newtown Campus and online.
The Business Management Track leads to careers for planning and managing people and other resources within organizations.
Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Retail, and Social Media Marketing
Classes are offered at Newtown Campus and online.
The Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Retail, and Social Media Marketing Track prepares for careers in sales, merchandise management, buying, department supervising, or retail management.
Human Resource Management
Classes are offered at Newtown Campus and online.
The Human Resource Management Track prepares students for entry-level positions in the human resource field and related occupations.
Hospitality Management
Classes are offered at Newtown Campus and online.
The Hospitality Management Track prepares students for careers directing specific aspects of hospitality operations and for overall hospitality management.
Equine Business Management
Classes are offered at Newtown Campus, the Thoroughbred Center and online.
The Equine Business Management Track provides the knowledge and skills students need to take advantage of various employment opportunities within the horse industry.
Real Estate Management
Classes are offered at Newtown Campus and online.
The Real Estate Management Track leads to a career in real estate which may include sales, finance, counseling, development, market analysis, valuation, and/or property management.
Kentucky Real Estate license requirements can be fulfilled by taking two (2) 3 credit hour courses in real estate and sitting for the licensure exam. Students can accomplish this in one semester by taking Real Estate Principles (RE100) and one of the following courses concurrently.

Kentucky Business Society
Three scholarships will be awarded from the Kentucky Business Society (KBS), one for $500 and two for $250. To be considered for these KBS Scholarships, students must be majoring in a business-related program, such as office systems, management, marketing, finance, accounting, economics, information systems, etc., and must be currently enrolled in at least 6 hours.

Length of Program
You can earn an associate in applied science degree in two years if you maintain full-time status.
