Technicians are the people who work with machines. They troubleshoot, calibrate, repair, re-program, and maintain them.

Continuing Your Education After Your AAS Degree
Once you have experience in the field, many of you will be ready to grow into a team leader or engineering role. In some cases, an AAS may suffice for your education. But, a bachelor’s degree is often required to “get you a seat at the table.” However, this does not have to be a BS in Engineering. It could be a BS in a related area.
In most companies, you do not need a BS in engineering to be an engineer. An engineer, in most circumstances, is an applications specialist. They build machines out of pre-made parts. They specialize in one part of a system (Like PLC programming, robotics, or VFD systems). Or supports maintenance technicians by working to improve systems & prevent failures. These roles do not need engineering degrees. A BA or BS in a business-related field will often qualify you for these roles. And, it is far easier to complete these degrees than a BS in engineering.
There are many advanced degrees available to BCTC AAS graduates. Many colleges would love to have you join their programs!
High Bay Dress Code
Because of safety and other concerns in the High Bay Area of BCTC’s Advanced Manufacturing Center in Georgetown, a dress code has been established and will be enforced. This dress code has been established with the approval of the college's administration.

Length of Program
You can earn an associate in applied science degree in two years if you maintain full-time status.
