Phlebotomy Technician Certificate Program

As a phlebotomist, you will be skilled in various techniques of performing and obtaining blood sample procedures and specimen collection. Gain thorough knowledge of specimen collection, all aspects of phlebotomy equipment, laboratory safety, brief overview of anatomy and physiology, common blood diseases, associated medical terminology, legal responsibilities, special procedures, knowledge of healthcare delivery system, familiarity with clinical laboratory services, and pre-analytical considerations for laboratory testing.

The course includes lecture, student laboratory practices, and clinical experience to develop the appropriate competencies, professionalism, and proper communication and public relations skills.  Initially, you will practice venipuncture and finger sticks on artificial arms.

Once proficiency is achieved, you practice venipuncture and finger sticks on each other under the supervision of the instructor.

Brookdale County College has been approved and recognized by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA).

This 72-hour program is designed to qualify the student for eligibility to take the NHA’s Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) certification examination.

(Please note that your clinical experience will take place on Campus and to fulfill your clinicals you will need to supply a minimum of 5 family members or friends willing to participate while under the supervision of an instructor)
