Accreditation Status

The CCC dental assisting program has been granted the accreditation status of “approval without reporting requirements” by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA), a specialized accrediting body recognized by the United States Department of Education.

CODA will review complaints that relate to a program’s compliance with the accreditation standards. The Commission is interested in the sustained quality and continued improvement of dental and dental-related education programs but does not intervene on behalf of individuals or act as a court of appeal for treatment received by patients or individuals in matters of admission, appointment, promotion or dismissal of faculty, staff or students. A copy of the appropriate accreditation standards and/or the Commission’s policy and procedure for submission of complaints may be obtained by contacting:

The Dental Assisting program at Calhoun Community College meets the state education requirements for dental assisting certification in the state of Alabama. Calhoun Community College has not determined if the DA program at Calhoun Community College meets the state education requirements in any other state, any U.S. Territory, or the District of Columbia.

Dental Assisting Careers

The job market for dental assisting continues to be in an upward growth pattern with over 90% of Calhoun’s program graduates currently employed in the field.  Dentists are expected to hire more assistants to perform routine tasks so that they may take on more complex procedures making “Dental Assisting” one of the fastest growing occupations.
