Process Maintenance Technology

The Process Maintenance Technology degree program helps you prepare for employment as an industrial machinery mechanic, maintenance worker, stationary engineer or boiler operator. You'll learn industrial maintenance skills and be able to choose the best track for you — electricity or welding.

Technical courses in this program include a lab component. During the lab hours, you will use equipment for live, hands-on projects based on real-world tasks. During the last semester in the degree, you'll have the opportunity to choose either a welding or electrical track. Depending on the your aptitude from prior courses in the program, you can choose which track best fits your skills.

Employment

The Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates an increase of 5% in the employment of industrial machinery mechanics, machinery maintenance workers and millwrights from now to 2028. The increase of automation, including the use of computer-controlled machines in factories and manufacturing plants, should increase the demand for machinery maintenance workers. (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2020).
