By entering the Human Services program at Clackamas Community College, you’ll learn how to communicate and support others as they cope with personal hardship.
Human Services is the field of assisting others in personal need, whether it's due to drug addiction, family issues or any form of abuse. Our Human Services program will supply you with the skills and experience necessary to effectively help others achieve well-being, through preparatory work in the field, one-on- one advising by faculty and additional certification through class electives.
Human Services Generalist AAS
You will develop some exciting new skills in this program. Among these new skills, you should be able to:
- Apply knowledge about the development and function of individuals and families
- Practice professional communication and interviewing skills both verbally and in writing in a human services setting
- Adhere to the professional ethics, attitudes and values necessary for effective human service work
- Outline key resources in the community and the network of service delivery

PROGRAM CODES: AAS.HUMANSERVGEN
Both the one-year Human Services Generalist Certificate and the two-year AAS offer training for entry-level positions in diverse social services agencies. The degree combines academic course work with supervised field experience. In addition to general course work in human services, students may select a variety of approved elective certificates/courses to focus on different concentration areas.RELATED INSTRUCTION OUTCOMES

PROGRAM OUTCOMES
Upon successful completion of this program, students should be able to:
- complete human service assessments that include client strengths and challenges as well as the scope of conditions that promote or inhibit human functioning;
- apply knowledge about the history, development and function of individuals, families and other systems;
- practice professional communication skills both verbally and in writing in a human services setting;
- adhere to the professional ethics, attitudes and values necessary for effective human service work;
- analyze the context and the role of diversity in determining and meeting people’s needs.
