Begin a new and exciting career! This 7-week program offers professional training in all areas required to succeed in the transportation industry. Course content is delivered via classroom and practical application methods. Gain hands-on expertise and experience with vehicle inspections, logbooks, trip planning, and rules and regulations that pertain to industry standards. Students will gain confidence by completing driving exercises on selected routes as well as practice labs for backing maneuvers; all focused on successful preparation for and completion of NCDOT CDL licensing. Upon successful completion, students will also obtain NCDOT Flagger Certification, AHA CPR Certification, and DOT Hazmat theory.

Requirements: CDL Class A Permit, valid NC Driver’s License, copy of driving record, DOT Physical/Drug Screen.

Course Length: 280 hours

Prerequisites

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • DOT physical and drug test
  • DMV driving history
  • Valid NC Driver License
  • Class A CDL permit

CDL Permit Preparation Course (CPP)

Coastal Carolina Community College is offering a 3-hour CDL Permit Prep course, designed to assist you in successfully preparing for the NC CDL Permit Test. Course content is delivered through classroom instruction and practical application.

Topics covered in this course include; familiarization of the NC DMV Drivers Manual and study techniques. Instructors will also provide an overview of air brakes, combination vehicles in a wide scope of delivery methods and help increase confidence.

 CDL Refresher Course (CRT)

This 40hr course is designed for drivers with 1-2 years of driving experience but have since stopped driving. It’s designed to refresh the skills and expertise required to re-enter the workforce through behind the wheel driving, backing maneuvers, and pre-trip inspection with the goal of successfully re-entering the trucking industry.
