In addition, we are the only college in our region offering classes in the state sponsored Innovative Technology Transfer Pathway (ITTP), we call this the “pathway to a job” because it allows you to start your IT career in less than a year.

Classes for Industry Certification

College of the Redwoods offers four courses to prepare you for industry certification.

These certifications offer:

  • a competitive edge in the job market;
  • heightened career advancement opportunities;
  • increased value to employers and their organizations.

93% of managers look for certifications when hiring; having them on your resume can get you in the door.

  • Prepares you for Cisco CCENT certification
  • Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) validates the ability to install, operate and troubleshoot a small enterprise branch network, including basic network security.
  • Prepares you for Cisco CCNA certification
  • CCNA curriculum and certification builds the skills you need to get hired and succeed in jobs related to networking computers and devices. Whether you go for that first job or specialize with more study, CCNA is a great foundation. CCNA Scaling and Connecting Networks course validates the ability to install, configure, operate, and troubleshoot medium-size routed and switched networks.
  • Prepares you for Comp/TIA Security+ certification
  • The CIS 35 Network Security Fundamentals course covers the most important foundational principles for securing a network and managing risk. Topics include: Access control, identify management, cryptography, and mitigation and deterrent techniques to address network attacks and vulnerabilities.
  • Prepares you for Comp/TIA A+ certification
  • The CIS 98 PC Computer Repair and Maintenance course is your first step in your professional ICT journey. The course will take you from the just-a-user level to the I-can-fix-this level for PC hardware and software issues. In addition, you will begin your preparation towards the CompTIA A+ certification. This certification credential’s popularity among employers is growing exponentially, and obtaining certification increases your ability to gain employment and improve your salary.
