College of the Redwoods Workforce & Community Education is approved through the California Bureau of Real Estate (DRE) for real estate classes in two forms: Live Lecture Classes and Correspondence. (DRE Statutory ID# S0086)
Correspondence Classes
Take Real Estate courses in the convenience of your home or office through College of the Redwoods correspondence real estate program. Courses are open entry/open exit, meaning you can register anytime. This is not an online course. Students have one year to complete each course from the date of enrollment. Successful completion of three college-level courses is required to qualify for the CA real estate salesperson examination. Real Estate Principles, Real Estate Practice and one other class meet California requirements. (DRE Statutory ID# S0086).

Fee: $199 for each class

Refund Policy: Students may obtain a full refund, less a $20 handling fee, by dropping the course within 15 days of enrollment. Exclusions may apply if course materials have been used or damaged.
Requirements:
1. Students must wait a minimum of 17 days to take the final exam. (Students cannot complete each class faster than 18 days)
2. Students have one year to complete each course from the date of enrollment.
Final Examination Procedures and Grading System
To pass each course you must score 70% or better on the 100 multiple choice, open book, open note, 3 hour final examination. The final examination can be taken once. In the event of not passing, the student will need to re-enroll in the class. A passing score of 70% on the final is required for a certificate of completion.
Correspondence Course Identification Statement
Participants shall present one of the following forms of identification immediately before the administration of the final examination:
A. A current California driver’s license.
B. A current identification card described in Section 13000 of the California Vehicle Code
C. Any identification of the participant issued by a governmental agency or a recognized real estate related trade organization within the immediately preceding five years which bears a photograph, signature and identification number of the participant.
Licensing information
Successful completion of three college-level courses is required to qualify for a real estate salesperson examination. The examination is administered in Oakland, Sacramento, Fresno, Los Angeles, and San Diego. Visit the CA Department of Real Estate website for information on obtaining your license.
