Early Childhood Care and Education, Diploma ECC2

The Early Childhood Care and Education program is a sequence of courses designed to prepare students for careers in child care and related fields. Learning opportunities develop academic, technical, and professional knowledge and skills required for job acquisition, retention, and advancement. The program emphasizes a combination of early childhood care and education theory and practical application necessary for successful employment. Program graduates receive an Early Childhood Care and Education diploma and have the qualification of early childhood care and education provider.

The purpose of the Early Childhood Care and Education program is to prepare students to work with children and families in diverse educational programs and settings.  The program provides a foundation for lifelong learning promoting cognitive and social development for children, parents, and the community.

Program Goals

Program goals for the Early Childhood Care and Education program were developed with expert knowledge and advice from practitioners in the industry.  The curriculum competencies are centered around key components of quality education needed for head start and pre-school children that include intellectual development, physical development, emotional development, and social development.  Hence, our vision is to provide optimal education and training by continuously implementing new ways to effectively educate future practitioners by setting high expectations and standards needed for a competent-competitive workforce.

*Promote intellectual development for children ages 0-8 years old
*Enhance physical development for children ages 0-8 years old
*Nurture emotional development for children ages 0-8 years old
*Inspire social development for children ages 0-8 years old

Program Learning Outcomes

*Upon completion of the course, students will demonstrate knowledge, skills, attitudes, and experiences reflecting NAEYC best practices in a childcare setting.

*Upon completion of the course, students will design age-appropriate activities for children based on their developmental need. 

*Upon completion of the course, students will identify intervention strategies for parents and children with special needs and develop a plan of action that promotes healthy child development.
