Criminal Justice TooksWe look forward to preparing you for what can be a rewarding, challenging, and very interesting career in criminal justice! As a Criminal Justice, Legal Studies and Fire Science Major at CCM (an Associate in Science), we will prepare you both academically and professionally to enter the criminal justice field. Our professors, both adjunct and full time, have extensive experience in the field; many of our adjuncts are current practitioners. The full time faculty are retired criminal justice practitioners with many years of experience in a variety of different areas of law enforcement. It is the goal of the department to provide you with the academic preparation necessary to enter the field; we rely heavily on our experience to demonstrate the applicability of the material to the real world of law enforcement and the criminal justice system. Further, our investment does not stop there; we regularly assist students in the application process for a wide variety of agencies, providing guidance during the process of applying and gaining employment. There are many different types of jobs in this field, including:

  • Local, county, state police agencies
  • County and state corrections
  • Legal studies
  • Investigative work
  • Federal agencies that specialize in areas such as terrorism, narcotics, and immigration
  • Private Security
  • Probation and Parole
  • Fire Science

We offer specialized courses as part of the degree, which focus on:

  • Policing (including internships)
  • Homeland Security
  • Computer forensics
  • Corrections
  • Investigations
  • Law
  • Arson Investigation
  • Juvenile Issues
