Certified Nurse's Aide

​​​D​o you want a health care career ​that’s always in high demand? Our Certified Nurse​s Aide/Assistant (CNA) program will give you the skills you need to make a difference in people’s lives.

A critical nursing shortage ensures immediate work for new gra​duates who have the skills and professionalism to take on this challenging but rewarding career. A CNA provides basic patient care and generally receives on-the-job training under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN) or a licensed practical nurse (LPN) in the following settings:

  • Clinics
  • Hospitals
  • Nursing homes
  • Long-term care facilities

You will learn principles of infection control, communication techniques and the skills to safely care for people. This program follows the standards and curriculum p​rovided by the Texas Department of Aging and Accessibility Services and prepares a student for and includes the TDADS Nurse Aide State Exam.

At Dallas College, you can begin your career in healthcare by becoming a Certified Nurse Aide, or CNA for short. As a CNA, you will provide basic patient care and even receive on-the-job training under the supervision of a registered nurse or a licensed practical nurse.
