Restaurant & Food Service Management

emcc culinary students

The Restaurant & Food Service Management at Eastern Maine Community College is designed to meet the educational needs of Food Service Specialists students who wish to pursue careers in food service management or to operate their own businesses. Students apply for admission to the Business Management program after having earned a Certificate in Culinary Arts (Food Service Specialist). Advanced standing is awarded for courses earned in the Culinary Arts program.

Students with an associate in applied science degree in Culinary Arts, or significant transfer credit, often pursue this degree as well in order to make themselves more marketable.

Graduates with an associate in applied science degree will be able to perform at mid-level positions and supervisory positions in the areas of restaurant management. A Classical French foundation will guide graduates through their practical hands-on kitchen training which includes American Regional Cuisine in their first year.
