The Radiologic Technologist operates imaging equipment to visualize body structure and functions as an aid to diagnosis.

The radiographer utilizes critical thinking skills and adapts them to unique patient needs and situations.

A graduate of the Radiologic Technology Program is eligible to go into Ultrasound programs. Many hospitals provide on-the-job training for nuclear medicine, special procedures, or MRI mammography.

The Associate of Applied Science Degree in Medical Imaging Technology prepares individuals to operate radiographic equipment and prepare patients for various types of diagnostic procedures. Radiographers operate radiographic equipment necessary for examinations, position patients, and determine the proper techniques for each image. Successful completion of this program allows graduates to apply for certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. • Capstone experience: RADR 2235, Radiologic Technology Seminar. • Minimum grade required for specialized courses: C; EXCEPT for the mandatory course RADR 1317, which requires a B or better. • This 24-month program is approved by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology. • Medical Advisor: Melhem Ghaleb, M. D. Important: This program requires students to fulfill Specialized Admissions criteria and procedures, including (but not limited to): minimum GPA, testing scores, a background check, substance abuse screening, and immunizations/titers. Acceptance into this program is determined by a competitive ranking formula which factors in individual academic performance, Specialized Admissions criteria, and the successful completion of ranking and/or mandatory courses, as applicable.
