Choose a "Cool" Career!

In the Air Conditioning Technology program, you will learn how to service heating, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment.  You will take academic courses and theory courses and have hands-on lab experiences that you will use in your career.

What are my career choices?

You have many options to pursue in refrigeration or heating ventilation and air conditioning.  Many students elect to work for a refrigeration and air conditioning contractor, which often leads to self employment.  Other common job opportunities include facilities air conditioning maintenance, appliance repair, duct installation, and general service technician.

What classes do I have to take?

Some of the courses you will take include Basic Refrigeration, Commercial Refrigeration, Cooling and Dehumidification, Heating and Humidification, HVAC Electricity and Electrical Components.

Field Licensure Requirements

Kentucky requires licensure from the Department of Housing, Building & Grounds to become a Master HVAC Contractor.  The program prepares you for work in the field, but the licensure is not a requirement for graduation from the program.

Where do I start?

Apply for admission to ECTC to receive information from the Admissions Office about submitting your placement test scores (ACT or other exams) and to schedule a meeting with an advisor to register for your classes.

Length of Program

You can earn an Associate in Applied Science degree in two years if you maintain full-time status.
