What are my career choices?
The Medical Information Technology program prepares graduates to work in a medical setting as an administrative assistant.
What classes do I have to take?
You will be required to take core of medical information technology courses, technical electives related to medical information technology, and general education courses. You then apply the skills you acquire in an internship usually taken in your last semester.

Field Licensure Requirements:
Upon completion of the Medical Information Technology (MIT) program, students are strongly encouraged, but not required, to take a national certification exam in their area of expertise (e.g. medical coding, transcription, electronic records, office management, or medical administrative). Most employers do not require national certifications to obtain employment in the field; however, by having these certifications students will increase their job prospects.
Where do I start?
Apply for admission to ECTC to receive information from the Admissions Office about submitting your placement test scores (ACT or other exams) and to schedule a meeting with an advisor to register for your classes.
Length of Program
You can earn an Associate in Applied Science, Associate in Arts, or Associate in Science degree in two years if you maintain full-time status.
