 The Corporate & Industry Training Department offers many courses that will allow you to enhance your skills and qualifications in your current job or prepare you for a new career.

  • Day and evening classes are offered for your convenience.

  • You can receive quality training at an affordable cost.

  • FTCC also offers customized training for local employers wanting to upgrade the skills of their employees.

We strongly encourage those interested in these classes to pre-register at least one week before the class start date.

Commercial Driver's License Program (CDL) - Class “A” Tractor/Trailers

Introduction

This is a 10-week program designed to prepare students for the Commercial Driving License examination. Topics include hours of service reporting, pre-trip/post-trip inspections, driving practice, trip planning and DMV testing. Additional instructional areas will be included to insure students’ success in the commercial truck driving industry.

  • DOT Long Form Physical & Drug Screen – $125.00 (payable at Fayetteville DOT Exams)

  • Unofficial Driving History – $10.75 (Payable at DMV)
  • CDL Class A Licenses – $107.50 (Payable at DMV at the conclusion of class)

Airframe and Powerplant License Prep Course

The Airframe and Powerplant preparatory course provides a 128-hour self-paced program of study with a certified FAA Airframe and Powerplant facilitator to successfully prepare the student for the three written tests, and the oral and practical test of the FAA Airframe & Powerplant Certificate.

Students are required to provide two signed copies of the FAA 8610-2 form documenting their 30 concurrent hours work experience in both Airframe and Powerplant prior to course registration.

AC/HVAC/Refrigeration

Circuits and Controls
  • This course provides a simple and accurate understanding of electrical energy fundamentals used in HVAC. Electrical circuit theory, electrical circuit components, wiring systems, and the troubleshooting of circuits and controls in heating and cooling equipment will be the focus of this course.

EPA Refrigerant Recovery/Recycling Certification

  • This course is designed to prepare technicians for the CFC Recovery/Recycling Certification examination given on the last class date. The course will include a core materials component for small appliance technicians. Further, the characteristics of refrigerants used for short-term, long-term, high, medium, and low-pressure applications will also be covered.
  • The NC State Board of Refrigeration charges $40.00 for the exam that is given the last day of class.Credential Information: The EPA Refrigerant Recovery/Recycling Certification course is designed to meet the educational requirements for United States.

Heat Pump Technology

  • This course is designed to provide a working knowledge and understanding of heat pump technology for those desiring employment in the field of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning as well as those already employed.
  • This course will address laws of refrigeration air properties, refrigerants and recovery techniques, pressure-temperature relationships, heat transfer, types of systems, basic controls, components, and troubleshooting techniques specifically focused toward heat pump technology.

Lineman Course Participants

Lineworker Basic Training Course

This course is designed to instruct current and potential electric utility employees pole climbing techniques, electrical safety, equipment assembly and function, truck operations, and circuit voltages.

The Fayetteville’s Public Works Commission  (PWC) has coordinated this training & as it pertains to contractors, cooperative electric &  public or private electrical utilities.

Fiber Optics I

This course will teach students the basics of fiber optics, fiber-optic networks, fiber-optic splicing procedures, fiber-optic analysis and testing equipment.

This will include use of the Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) and testing equipment that involves fiber-optic link troubleshooting and system design. Each student will have the opportunity to make mechanical and fusion splices that are used in the industry.

Students will also make an operating patch cable with the proper techniques and fiber-optic connectors; requiring that cable pass the minimum loss as required in the field.

Time is devoted to thorough understanding of Fiber Optic terms, design, troubleshooting and testing for correct operation of the finished system.

Upon successful completion of this course, each student will have the option to take the Fiber Optic Association CFOT [Certified Fiber Optic Technician] certification exam – a nationally recognized measure of an entry level Fiber Optic Technician.

Industrial Training

OSHA Forklift Operator – 24 hrs

This course is designed for inexperienced operators or operators who haven’t driven for some time.

The fundamentals of forklift operation will be covered in detail as well as safety concerns.

This course meets the requirements for OSHA Standard 29 CFR 1910.178(1).

Students will gain experience in operating a lift by negotiating an obstacle course, stacking pallets, and performing other tasks.

Class is limited to 12 students.
