Mechanical Design, A.A.A.S.

Begin your career as a mechanical designer, preparing detailed drawings based on rough sketches and specifications. You will also calculate the strength, quantity and cost of materials. Or become an engineering technician and control engineering changes and design modifications to existing components and assemblies.

Throughout your coursework for the Architectural Technology Associate Degree, you will have access to a Maker Lab to give you the most up-to-date training available and to maximize your employment opportunities.

In the Maker Lab you can operate:

  • CNC equipment.

Several of the most popular CAD engineering graphics software products are incorporated into your Mechanical Design degree, including:

  • Inventor.
  • Catia.

  • AutoCAD.

You will also  develop skills in:

  • Parametric design/modeling.
  • Geometric dimensioning.
  • Tolerances.
  • Manufacturing materials and processes.
  • Mechanical components.
  • Blueprint reading.
  • Technical communication.

Plus, you can take the Certified SolidWorks Associate level exam.
