What Is Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education?

The Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education program educates individuals to provide quality care and education for young children. Our students learn the fundamental principles of:

  • caring for and challenging young children, including developmental ages and stages
  • health and safety
  • curriculum planning
  • assessment
  • family involvement

What are my degree, diploma, and certificate options?

Associate in Applied Science (AAS) - Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education: 60-64 Total credit hours Requirements
Diploma - Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education: 33-36 TOTAL CREDIT HOURS  Requirements
Certificate - Child Care Assistant: 9 TOTAL CREDIT HOURS  Requirements
Certificate - Early Childhood Administrator: 12 TOTAL CREDIT HOURS Requirements
certificate - Kentucky Child Care Provider: 3 TOTAL CREDIT HOURS Requirements

Student Responsibilities

Students are responsible for transportation to the various observation sites, professional liability insurance, criminal background check, and TB clearance.

Length of Program

You can earn an associate in applied science degree in two years if you maintain full-time status.
