What is a medical laboratory technician?

Help save lives and support doctors and researchers by becoming a Medical Laboratory Technician. You'll gain skills to help diagnose and treat patients by performing laboratory tests in hematology, toxicology, immunology and more.

Students are required to attend a pre-admission conference for this program.

The successful Medical Laboratory Technician graduate receives an Associate in Applied Science with embedded 2 embedded certificates – Phlebotomy for the Healthcare Worker (students must earn another healthcare degree to obtain this certificate or be currently be employed in healthcare) and the Physician’s Office Laboratory Certificate.  The Phlebotomy for the Healthcare Worker is not sufficient for phlebotomy certification. Upon graduation, graduates take the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Board of Certification examination.

You can earn an Associate of Applied Science degree in two years if you maintain full-time status.
