What is a Medical Coding and Reimbursement Specialist?

The Medical Coding & Reimbursement Program prepares students to work in a physician-based billing and coding function. Students in this program learn to:

  • Read medical records
  • Apply codes for procedures, services, and diagnoses
  • Create claims for physician payment
  • Troubleshoot payment programs

What are my degree, diploma, or certificate options?

This is a certificate program.  Once prerequisites have been completed, the program begins in the Fall and ends the following Spring.  Upon graduation, you are eligible to sit for the CPC (Certified Professional Coder) Exam through the AAPC (American Academy of Professional Coders).
