Practical Nurse education is offered in Devils Lake, Grand Forks, Mayville, and Jamestown. Associate Degree RN education in Devils Lake, Grand Forks, and Mayville. Students also can enroll in a Mobility option that has online theory courses with scheduled in-person labs and face-to-face segments.

       

Program Description

The Nursing program provides the knowledge and skills students will need to enter a challenging career in nursing. Upon acceptance into the program, students will receive classroom study and supervised experience in caring for patients in a variety of healthcare settings including hospitals, acute care centers, long-term care facilities, home care agencies, and clinics. 

As a partner in the Dakota Nursing Program, Lake Region State College offers education for multiple steps on the nursing career ladder:

  • Certified Nurse Aide (CNA)
  • Paramedic to Nurse program
  • Practical Nurse (LPN) program (11-month curriculum)
  • Associate Degree Nurse (RN) program (9-month curriculum)
  • Graduates are prepared to sit for national licensure exams and, with passing scores, qualify for employment as CNAs, LPNs, or RNs.

Lake Region State College is a member of the Dakota Nursing Program (DNP). DNP is a 1 + 1, Practical Nurse to Associate Degree Nurse Program.

Get started early

Students pursuing nursing degrees often complete several required academic courses while waiting to start the program. This early start allows students to concentrate on nursing skills courses once accepted into the nursing program. Early start courses include:

  • ENGL 110: College Composition I
  • PSYC 111: Introduction to Psychology
  • PSYC 250: Developmental Psychology
  • PHRM 215: Introduction to Pharmacology
  • BIOL 220 & 221: Anatomy and Physiology I & II
  • ENGL 120, ENGL 125 or COMM 110 (Associate Degree ONLY)
  • BIOL 202: Microbiology (Associate Degree ONLY)
  • Submit a copy of the CPR Certification Card to register
