Nurse Aide

   Program Description

The main role of a Nurse Aide is to  provide intimate, hands on healthcare to patients and assist them in daily activities that they might have trouble with on their own. This can include bathing, feeding, or other activities in daily life. The ideal Nurse Aide is compassionate and enjoys helping others.  An Aide should have good communication skills as it’s their job to bring all patient concerns and issues to their supervisor. Nurse Aides may also work with medical technology, including billing software, health information software, and/or medical record charting software. On the job, Nurse Aides report to either registered nurses or licensed practical nurses or licensed vocational nurses.

Lanier Technical College is a State approved Nurse Aide Training Program (NATP). As an approved program, we offer training to candidates that desire to become eligible for certification as a certified nurse aide. Georgia requires the program to provide one comprehensive course to train candidates to work in all health care facilities (e.g. nursing homes, hospitals, hospice, home health, etc.). After the completion of the State approved training program, the candidate must take and pass the competency evaluation examination. The examination includes a written/oral and skills competency examination that is evaluated by an approved registered nurse with the approved testing agency. Candidates who successfully pass the written/oral and skills competency examination are included on the Georgia Nurse Aide Registry. No online Certified Nurse Aide courses are allowed in the State of Georgia.
