Automotive Service Technology II

Program Objective:

The purpose of the Automotive Service Technology II Program is to prepare students for employment and/or specialized training in the automotive industry.

Program Content:

This program offers a sequence of courses that provides coherent and rigorous content aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for further education and careers in the Transportation, Distribution and Logistics career cluster; provides technical skill proficiency, and includes competency-based applied learning that contributes to the academic knowledge, higher-order reasoning and problem-solving skills, work attitudes, general employability skills, technical skills, and occupation-specific skills, and knowledge of all aspects of the Transportation, Distribution and Logistics career cluster.

The content includes but is not limited to broad, transferable skills and stresses understanding and demonstration of the following elements of the Automotive industry; planning, management, finance, technical and product skills, underlying principles of technology, labor issues, community issues and health, safety, and environmental issues.

Admission Requirements:

  • Submit an application.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Interview with a guidance counselor or department chairperson and/or instructor.
  • Pass a driving test.
  • Take initial assessment in reading, mathematics, and language within six weeks of entering the program.
  • Have a high school diploma.
  • Be 18 to 25 years old.

Completion Requirements:

The entire program is 750 hours but students can earn a certificate upon completion of the following OCPs:

Salary:

The average wage for this career in Florida is $21.09 hourly or $43,860 annually.

Program Cost:

  • Shop or laboratory activities are an integral part of the Automotive Services Technology II program. These activities provide instruction in the use of automotive service equipment, tools, materials, and processes found in the automotive service industry.

Program Hours:

  • Monday – Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
