Aviation Maintenance Technology

Overview

The Aviation Maintenance Technology Associate in Science, Liberal Studies program is jointly offered by Middlesex Community College and National Aviation Academy (NAA), located at nearby Hanscom Air Field in Bedford. Students must complete all program requirements at the NAA and must submit their National Aviation Academy Maintenance Certificate transcript to be accepted into the Aviation Maintenance Technology. The Program prepares students for employment with major and commuter airlines, airplane and helicopter engine manufacturers, and many other non-aviation related companies. Training provides the background for advancement to supervisory and managerial positions in these industries. The hands-on aircraft maintenance instruction and training at NAA is the first component of the program. Students complete the requirements for the associate in science degree at MCC. The general education and business courses strengthen communications, computer and management competency.

Career and Transfer Outlook

Graduates of the program find work as aviation mechanics for airlines and the aviation industry. Job opportunities exist locally and throughout the world. An associate degree graduate with experience may be more quickly promoted into management or into more responsible positions, such as maintenance controller or field service technician.
