Enrollment is on a rolling basis and programs begin every five to 10 weeks.
Only those enrolled in the hybrid track of this program are eligible for externship opportunities.

Skills You'll Cover in the healthcare information technology program

Explore drug classifications, the relationship between the disease process and medications, drug interactions, and more.  

 Discover proper procedures for completing, maintaining, and preserving health information as well as the relationship between health information management and the health care delivery system. 

Examine the health information management profession, healthcare delivery systems, accreditation and certification applicable to health records, and more. 

 Practice using coding systems and resources to accurately code inpatient and outpatient diagnoses, procedures, and services. 

Explore common types of insurance such as PPOs, HMOs, and Individual Plans and practice how to process insurance claims. 

 

Practice interpreting and analyzing the results of healthcare research, making sound judgment about data analysis, discovering appropriate uses for statistics, and more. 

 Study the legal aspects of health information, confidentiality, statutes governing the release of health information, how to monitor legal changes, and more. 

 Practice how to use CPT, ICD-10-CM, and Level II (HCPCS) to assign diagnostic and procedural codes.
