Moraine Park’s Auto Maintenance Technician program provides students with expert training to diagnose and repair vehicles using high-tech automotive equipment.

The one-year Auto Maintenance Technician program at Moraine Park Technical College provides students the hands-on experience and extensive training needed to adapt to the rapidly changing automotive industry and prepare for entry-level vehicle repair jobs. Learn the skills necessary to test, diagnose and service vehicles that deliver improved fuel economy, complex safety systems and higher performance features.

What You’ll Learn

Students receive hands-on training through Moraine Park’s automotive classes to become a front-end troubleshooter who performs diagnosis, service and repair of complex automotive systems. Work with the latest computerized diagnostic equipment to identify common problems found in a vehicle. Prepare for ASE certification testing and continue your education through Moraine Park’s Automotive Technology associate degree to advance your career opportunities in the automotive industry.

Tuition Costs

The cost of your degree depends on a number of factors such as total credits required, textbooks and the financial aid you receive. Some programs have additional costs such as uniforms, technology and equipment.

Additional Program Costs

Students must wear Moraine Park approved program uniform. Approximately $160 for a set of 4 uniforms.

Cost of Attendance

Cost of attendance (sometimes referred to as the “sticker price”) is the maximum amount of money it costs to attend college for one year and is used to determine your financial aid offering.

While attending Moraine Park during the 2023-24 school year, your estimated cost of attendance for one full year includes tuition of $4,375 (15 credits for fall and spring semester), fees of $338, food and housing of $4,052 (if living with parents, $9,614 if living on your own), books and supplies of $2,061, personal expenses of $2,245, and transportation of $2,007 for a total of $15,161. Your direct costs (those costs paid directly to the college) include tuition & fees. The indirect costs (costs not paid to the college) can vary from individual to individual and your own personal needs.

High school dual credit provides high school students the opportunity to earn college credit while in high school, without leaving their high school classroom. The courses are taught by certified high school instructors using technical college curriculum, grading policies and textbooks.

Financial Aid is provided to aid eligible associate degree and technical diploma programs with 28 credits or more. Processing can take 6-8 weeks after a student’s completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is received.
