Health Information Technology Program
Imagine being employed in the booming health information technology (HIT) field in as little as two years. With an associate degree in HIT from Moraine Park Technical College, you will learn the latest and greatest about the occupation where health care meets the cutting edge of technology.
Health information technicians collect, analyze and report health care data, helping ensure patients receive high-quality care. Moraine Park students learn from instructors who are currently working in the field, gaining knowledge of disease, treatments, computer systems and organizational skills.
Our Health Information Technology graduates have exceeded the national pass rate on the RHIT exam for more than 25 years, and 100 percent of program students have received a favorable rating on the professional practice site supervisor evaluation in all technical domains and employability skills.
All core program classes are offered online. Job shadowing in this field is recommended before application. Graduates know how to:

Accreditation
Moraine Park’s Health Information Technology program—which can be completed online on a full-time or part-time basis—is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM). Graduates are eligible to take the national certification exam offered by the American Health Information Management Association to become Registered Health Information Technicians (RHIT).
The Health Information Management accreditor of Moraine Park Technical College is the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM). The College’s accreditation for associate degree in Health Information Management has been reaffirmed through 2027/2028. Tuition Costs
The cost of your degree depends on a number of factors such as total credits required, textbooks and the financial aid you receive. Some programs have additional costs such as uniforms, technology and equipment.

Cost of Attendance
Cost of attendance (sometimes referred to as the “sticker price”) is the maximum amount of money it costs to attend college for one year and is used to determine your financial aid offering.
While attending Moraine Park during the 2023-24 school year, your estimated cost of attendance for one full year includes tuition of $4,375 (15 credits for fall and spring semester), fees of $338, food and housing of $4,052 (if living with parents, $9,614 if living on your own), books and supplies of $2,061, personal expenses of $2,245, and transportation of $2,007 for a total of $15,161. Your direct costs (those costs paid directly to the college) include tuition & fees. The indirect costs (costs not paid to the college) can vary from individual to individual and your own personal needs.

High school dual credit provides high school students the opportunity to earn college credit while in high school, without leaving their high school classroom. The courses are taught by certified high school instructors using technical college curriculum, grading policies and textbooks.

Financial Aid is provided to aid eligible associate degree and technical diploma programs with 28 credits or more. Processing can take 4-6 weeks after a student’s completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is received.
