Nursing Assistant Program
Ignite your passion for helping people and begin your journey in the medical field with a Nursing Assistant technical diploma from Moraine Park Technical College.
The Nursing Assistant program at Moraine Park prepares students to take the Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry exam through a combination of more than 75 hours of classroom theory, laboratory work and clinical experience. Students learn the skills they need to work in long-term care settings, such as taking vital signs, bathing, dressing, making beds and other direct resident care.

What You’ll Learn
Moraine Park’s Nursing Assistant training prepares students for work as nursing assistants by teaching the foundations of how to communicate and interact with patients, family and co-workers, maintain and protect client rights, and record observations. Students also learn ethical and legal responsibilities of nursing assistants, how to provide safe care for a diverse population, assist clients with long-term, disabling conditions, and more.

The following are required to be submitted prior to class starting. Once registered students will receive instructions and additional details regarding each requirement.
- Hepatitis B Vaccine (series of 3 vaccines, or titer)
- MMR Vaccine (series of 2 vaccines, or titer)
- Varicella Vaccine (series of 2 vaccines, or titer)
- Covid-19 Vaccine
- Covid-19 Booster (when eligible)
- Tdap (within last 10 years)
- Influenza Vaccine (not needed for clinicals June 1-October 15)
- TB Test(s) – 1 TB blood test or 2 TB skin tests
- Drug Test – 10 panel, do not complete until instructed by the program
Apply and complete the admission process early. It is recommended that students submit an application at least three weeks before their desired course start. Students cannot register for the Nursing Assistant course before being fully admitted to the Nursing Assistant program.

Tuition Costs
The cost of your degree depends on a number of factors such as total credits required, textbooks and the financial aid you receive. Some programs have additional costs such as uniforms, technology and equipment.

Additional Program Costs
Students must purchase MPTC scrubs and a name badge for this program. The approximate cost is $75. Students also need non-permeable uniform shoes (white, blue or black). Required books and materials are an additional cost. New, used, and rental books may be an option.
Cost of Attendance
Cost of attendance (sometimes referred to as the “sticker price”) is the maximum amount of money it costs to attend college for one year and is used to determine your financial aid offering.
While attending Moraine Park during the 2023-24 school year, your estimated cost of attendance for one full year includes tuition of $4,375 (15 credits for fall and spring semester), fees of $338, food and housing of $4,052 (if living with parents, $9,614 if living on your own), books and supplies of $2,061, personal expenses of $2,245, and transportation of $2,007 for a total of $15,161. Your direct costs (those costs paid directly to the college) include tuition & fees. The indirect costs (costs not paid to the college) can vary from individual to individual and your own personal needs.

Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry:
To be eligible for inclusion on the Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry, students also complete written/oral and skill performance competency examinations after completing the course. This permits graduates to be employed in state and federally approved skilled long-term care and home healthcare facilities. High school dual credit provides high school students the opportunity to earn college credit while in high school, without leaving their high school classroom. The courses are taught by certified high school instructors using technical college curriculum, grading policies and textbooks.
