Purpose
The Environmental Science student will take course work from a wide array of natural resource offerings. This will prepare the student to work in all areas of environmental science related jobs.
Program Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion, students will be able to:
- Understand the natural environment and its relationships with human activities.
- Characterize and analyze human impacts on the environment.
- Integrate facts, concepts, and methods from multiple disciplines and apply to environmental problems.
- Acquire practical skills for scientific problem-solving, including familiarity with laboratory and field instrumentation, computer applications, statistical and modeling techniques.
- Understand and implement scientific research strategies, including collection, management, evaluation, and interpretation of environmental data.
- Design and evaluate strategies, technologies, and methods for sustainable management of environmental systems and for the remediation or restoration of degraded environments.
Program Requirements
An academic advisor will review your preparation in Mathematics and English with you. You’ll be guided to appropriate preliminary coursework to give you the greatest chance of success in this program. Students may receive college credit for verified on-the-job experience.
Employment Opportunities
The Associate of Applied Science degree program in Environmental Science is designed to prepare students for employment as an Environmental Technician.
