Data Analytics & Management Program

In a rapid changing database environment, including cloud-based technology, Data Analytics & Management is a high-demand career with guaranteed job placement. The program prepares you for a career in the application of specialized software that stores and organizes pertinent information for businesses both large and small. At NCTC, you will receive the foundational knowledge needed to pursue a sensational career.

Students in our programs will learn the fundamentals of web programming and the most cutting edge database programs available. The speed of technology evolves quickly, and staying ahead of the curve is what allows our students to be competitive in the professional Data Analytics & Management career landscape.

Our curriculum has been specifically developed with the assistance and guidance of the Business and Industry Leadership Team (BILT) which is composed of service area industry professionals.

 Degrees

You may choose to earn a Level 1 Certificate or an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Degree from NCTC. Courses in the Certificate program will readily transfer to the AAS Degree. The AAS degree will transfer to several North Texas universities through AAS to BAAS transfer programs. If you want to progress to an AAS degree program, you will be provided with a more in-depth study of the Database Management field.

Prerequisite

Students in this program must be able to keyboard at a minimum rate of 40 words per minute (WPM). Those who cannot meet this requirement must take a keyboarding class to improve their skills prior to enrollment.

Level 1 Certificate

This certificate can be completed through a mix of in-person, hybrid, and online classes. Several courses are offered in an 8-week term, rather than a 16-week term. The program is designed to take two semesters to complete. Upon completion of the Level 1 Workforce Certificate, students will be able to:

  • Design and generate tables, forms, and reports.

  • Communicate technical issues related to database systems through presentations and reports.

Capstone Requirement: Students completing the certificate must pass a comprehensive program exam with a score of 70% or higher to satisfy the capstone requirement. Exam must be scheduled with the Division Chair.

Database Management AAS

This degree can be completed through a mix of in-person, hybrid, and online classes. Several courses are offered in an 8-week term, rather than a 16-week term. The program is designed to take two years to complete. Upon completion of the AAS Degree, students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate the ability to work effectively in teams.

  • Design, implement, and analyze relational database tables.

  • Communicate technical issues related to database management through presentations and reports.

  • Demonstrate database management concepts, relevant alternatives, and decision recommendations.
