Electrical Lineworker with Pintle Hook Restriction

A highly sought after career, Electrical Lineworkers earn top dollars in competitive markets, and NGTC offers students the education they need to start their dream career “out on the line.”

NGTC’s Electrical Lineworker Apprentice Program is completed in one mini-mester term.

Students entering the Electrical Lineworker with Pintle Hook Restriction program must be program ready; needing no learning support courses. Also, students must submit a report of a negative (acceptable) DOT drug test completed one week prior to the beginning of the first day of class.

  2. Electrical Lineworker Workplace Skills
  3. Electrical Lineworker Automation Skills
  4. Electrical Lineworker Occupational Skills

Individuals who graduate from NGTC’s Electrical Lineworker Certificate program can hit the ground running if they choose to become:

  • Electrical Power-Line Installers and Repairers
  • Telecommunications Line Installers and Repairers

The Electrical Lineworker with Pintle Hook Restriction certificate program provides students with the necessary knowledge and skills to gain employment as an entry-level lineworker with electrical utility companies, both public and private. Upon successful completion of this program, students meet the federal requirements to test for their Class A license with Pintle Hook Restriction. Topics include fundamentals of commercial driving, CDL road and range driving, lineworker organizational principles, general electrical safety, basic electric fundamentals, lineman simulations, observation-based instruction, interview skills, problem solving, work ethics, and communication skills.

Drug/Alcohol Testing and Requirements

  • Must submit MVR for the last 7 years with no more than 8 points, 3 moving violations, and no DUI within the last 3 years; report must be within 30 days prior to the beginning of class
  • Must submit report of DOT physical completed within 30 days prior to beginning class
  • Obtain a Class A CDL permit
  • Must submit negative 5-panel DOT drug screen 7 days prior to first day of class
  • Pre-Employment/Enrollment drug screening must be administered by the approved testing site for North Georgia Technical College
  • Subject to random drug/alcohol screening
  • Must enroll in Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse
  • Must comply with US Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations in parts 40, 382, 383 and 391, as well as State and/or local laws, related to alcohol and controlled substances testing, age, medical certification, licensing, and driver records, as required by §380.707(a)
