Electrical Systems Technology

The Electrical Systems Technology program provides instruction in the inspection, maintenance, installation, and repair of electrical systems in the residential, commercial, and industrial industries.

The Electrical Systems Technology program is a sequence of courses designed to prepare students for careers in residential and commercial electrical industries. By the very nature of this program, a student would be prepared for work in the various alternative areas currently expanding in the US and worldwide.

Completion of the program prepares students for entry-level employment in the construction industry for a variety of positions:
• Residential Electrician
• Commercial Electrician
• Industrial Electrician
• Maintenance Technician in Commercial and Residential

A combination of theory and practical application is emphasized to develop academic, technical, and professional knowledge and skills. Program graduates receive a diploma in Electrical Systems Technology with a specialization in residential applications.

Diploma

The Electrical Systems Technology diploma program provides instruction in the inspection, maintenance, installation, and repair of electrical systems in the residential, commercial, and industrial industries. A combination of theory and practical application is emphasized to develop academic, technical, and professional knowledge and skills. Program graduates receive a diploma in Electrical Systems Technology with a specialization in residential applications. Upon completion of this diploma, graduates will also receive a commercial wiring certificate and a residential wiring certificate.

Certificates

Commercial Wiring Certificate

The Commercial Wiring certificate program provides instruction in the knowledge and skills necessary to perform wiring functions in a commercial setting. Topics include safety practices, blueprint and schematic reading and interpretation, and wiring procedures and practices.

Residential Wiring Technician Certificate

The Residential Wiring certificate program prepares students for employment in the construction industry as qualified residential wiring technicians. Topics include NEC regulations, blueprint reading, principles of direct and alternating current, and residential wiring procedures and practices.
