PRE-KINDERGARTEN

Program Overview

Would you enjoy working with very young children, influencing their lives in a positive way? The early childhood development associate degree program might be right for you. The pre-kindergarten program prepares students for teaching positions in child-care facilities, Head Start centers and preschools. The program also provides professional training for in-home childcare providers.

The curriculum integrates classroom and real-world field experiences, and the program is approved by the Ohio Department of Education. Students have the opportunity to apply the skills and techniques they learn to foster the young child’s social, emotional, physical, creative and cognitive growth. To qualify, students must take the Pre-Kindergarten Associate Licensure test.

Daytime availability is necessary for field placements. All students are required to have a documentation file in the Allied Health, Business & Public Services Division office that includes a recent medical statement and background checks including BCI and FBI fingerprints, state and federal sex offender checks, and the child abuse and neglect registry from Ohio and any other state of residence in the previous five years.
