Certificate — Medical Coding

This 29-credit certificate prepares graduates for entry-level medical coding positions or to advance their studies with a diploma or an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in medical coding. The NTC Medical Coding programs provide training using nationally recognized coding systems to classify procedures and diagnoses related to medical treatment. Medical coders are needed for patient account management, medical billing and insurance claims processing.

Employment

Professionals in medical coding organize and manage medical data, including medical facility records, Health Care training materials, official Health Care documents and medical research reports. Graduates are prepared for employment opportunities in a variety of Health Care settings, including hospitals, clinics, insurance companies, government agencies, public health, home health agencies, long-term care facilities and dental offices. There will be a need for about 1,500 additional medical records and health information technicians nationwide to meet market demand between 2012-2022.
