Becoming Connecticut State Community College

STUDENTS: The Community Colleges are undergoing a merger with a plan to become Connecticut State Community College in fall 2023; please work closely with your advisor/program coordinator to select your courses accordingly. Click here for more details about this merger.

Computer Information Systems (CIS) focuses on applying computing technologies to many fields including arts, business, physical and social sciences and many other fields. CIS professionals use a solution-based approach with proven tools and techniques to architect solutions that can address a myriad of real-world challenges. CIS professionals utilize subject matter knowledge, communication, and organizational skills. They rely on their leadership, decision-making, and analytical abilities to help organizations translate, build, and use information systems more effectively. CIS is often thought of a very specialized application domain of traditional Computer Science. Students will gain real-world skills during their course of study.

NOTE: The Computer Systems Technology (CST) Degree and related programs will no longer be offered and will be replaced with the new CT State approved Computer Information Systems (CIS) Degree starting Fall 2023. Students already enrolled in CST Programs and students who plan to graduate after Spring 2023 should speak to their advisor as soon as possible to create suitable a plan for completion and to meet requirements.
