Want to learn more about where this degree can take you?

New York State prides itself in the high quality of its licensed and certified professionals.

For the protection of its citizens, each license and certificate have requirements that individuals must meet in order to be licensed or certified in New York State. OCC’s academic programs leading to licensure or certification are carefully designed to meet and exceed these New York State and national requirements. This is a role SUNY plays in protecting the public. However, other states frequently have their own requirements.

Graduates of Onondaga Community College's Health Information Technology/Medical Record A.A.S program are eligible to sit for a nationally recognized credentialing exam. Onondaga Community College cannot determine whether its educational program curriculum for Health Information Technology/Medical Records A.A.S. is sufficient to meet any additional licensure and certification requirements for practicing in Health Information in States and U.S. territories other than New York.

Enrolled students and prospective students are strongly encouraged to contact their State’s licensure entity (if not practicing in New York) to review all licensure and certification requirements imposed by their state(s) of choice. We encourage you to talk to your program director if you plan to practice in a State other than New York after graduation.
