Program Purpose:

This program is designed to provide students skills to work in the electric and energy industries as an entry-level technician or to provide upgraded skills to those currently working in the field.

What will I learn?

Students successfully completing this program will be able to…

• Interpret schematics drawings.
• Show understanding of safety and legal requirements.
• Identify purpose/ location of components and protection devices.
• Use varied instruments to measure voltage, current and resistance.
• Show knowledge of electrical/other controls.
• Troubleshoot and repair systems at the component level.

How long will I need to be in college?

A college-ready student can complete this career studies certificate in three semesters.

Upon completion of the program, graduates will possess the knowledge and skills required for various careers such as: maintenance technician, apprentice electricians, or solar panel installers.
