Nursing Assistant I

This is a 166-172 contact hour course offered in a traditional classroom setting. This training program, which includes Day, Evening or Hybrid class options, will prepare you to successfully complete a state of North Carolina approved competency evaluation examination that allows the nurse aide to be listed on the N.C. Nurse Aide I Registry. The course includes instructor lectures, videos, role playing methods and hands-on learning. Upon successful completion of the course, you will be able to take the state exam through Credentia for listing and certification with the state of North Carolina. Pre-registration Required


Day Classes - Nursing Assistant I 

Next Class Date: May 28 - July 17 | Monday through Thursday from 8:20 a.m. to 3:10 p.m.

Mandatory Orientation: May 9 at 9 a.m. | Honeycutt Center, room 124, Scotland County Campus


Evening Classes - Nursing Assistant I

Mandatory Orientation: TBA


Hybrid/Online - Nursing Assistant I

This track includes online assignments and traditional classroom meetings. Orientation is mandatory for the Hybrid/Online class.

Requirements for Registration

  • Accuplacer Next Generation Reading score of 250 or higher. A transcript showing successful completion of a college level English course is a substitute for the test score.
  • Valid U.S. government issued Social Security Card
  • Valid driver’s license or state issued picture ID
  • Current immunization record
  • Current completed physical
  • Current TB skin result

Course Costs

  • Tuition and Fees: $441 (cost for classes starting prior to June 30, 2024)

Course Forms

Students must bring required documents and payment to either Hamlet or Scotland County campus to register for class.
