Overview

A Roane State Technology Plus Program
education + certification + employment

A Mechatronics Certificate Program is also available.

The mechatronics program will prepare you for today's clean, creative, technology-driven manufacturing careers.

Because mechatronics is a Roane State Technology Plus program, you will:

Education Certification Employment
A.A.S. Degree
Complete the two-year Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree program, which includes courses in process control technologies, automation systems, motor control, and mechanical components and systems. Plus, learn communication skills and teamwork skills through general education courses such as speech and English. Siemens Level II: Students with this certification are capable of installing, implementing and modifying software tools used in mechatronics systems. They can also program mechatronics modules and systems, especially PLCs. After the two-year degree program, students will be prepared for jobs in which they program automated machines, help design assembly lines, and evaluate how well an automated system is performing.
Beyond the A.A.S. Degree
Consider continuing your education at universities such as Middle Tennessee State University, which offers a bachelor's degree in mechatronics engineering. Siemens Level III: Students with this certification are capable of designing mechatronics systems. After earning a bachelor's degree, students will be prepared for jobs in which they design assembly lines and oversee their operation.

How much will I make?

Graduates with an A.A.S. degree can expect to make $15-17 initially. The average salary for mechatronics technicians in the Knoxville area is $48,200 per year.
