What is the Criminal Justice program?

This program provides a basic knowledge of the criminal justice system, including criminal law, policing, court procedures, corrections, protective services and more.

What will I learn?

You’ll learn about the criminal justice system and the various roles within the field. You’ll gain an understanding of criminal law and policing, court procedures, sentencing, prisons, probation and parole, and juvenile justice.

What can I do with this course of study?

This degree can lead to a variety of rewarding, in-demand careers in public safety. You’ll gain exposure to different professions in the criminal justice system, as well as learn directly from professionals in the field. You’ll be prepared to pursue entry-level careers in law enforcement, policing, security, the legal system, community correctional programs, juvenile justice, child advocacy, protective services and other service agencies. Graduates can also pursue further education, such as a bachelor’s degree, to advance their careers.

What's special about the program?

SAC’s Criminal Justice program includes three different associate of science degrees: Law Enforcement, Law Enforcement Peace Officer Option, and Correctional Science, all of which are available either in-person or fully online. Because faculty interaction directly impacts student success, classes are kept small, with no more than 32 students.
