What is Automotive Technology

Like all technology, automotive systems are getting more and more sophisticated. Today, technicians need to know computer tools as well as hand tools. To get the best jobs, you must learn how to use the newest equipment. Get on the entrance ramp to this great career at Southeast!

What are my career choices?

Demand for technicians will grow as the number of vehicles on the road grows! This means more and more employment opportunities. Persons trained in automotive repair can expect to find employment in new car dealerships, coal operations, as well as government and independent fleets. Many Southeast graduates start their own small businesses or work for other independent operators.

Many experienced technicians employed by automobile dealers and independent repair shops receive a commission related to the labor cost charged to the customer. Although weekly earnings depend on the amount of work completed, most employers guarantee certified technicians a minimum weekly salary.

What are my degree, diploma or certificate options?
