Program Description
The Associate of Applied Science, Fire Technology, Fire Suppression is designed for individuals who wish to advance their careers in fire fighting or fire prevention. Students completing the Fire and Rescue Academy may apply their Fire Academy credits toward completion of this degree. For those interested in a career in fire prevention or fire suppression systems, we recommend this degree with elective courses in fire suppression. This degree is a pathway to the Bachelor of Applied Science, Emergency Management and Homeland Security for those interested in management and leadership.

Program Requirements
AAS degrees are generally non-transfer degrees that are designed for students to enter the workforce.
To earn an AAS degree, students must:
- Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 (see requirements for graduation.)
- Complete a minimum of 15 units within the college.
- Satisfy General Education requirements for the AAS.
- Have no financial or library obligation to the college.

Program Outcomes
Students completing the degree will:
PSLO1: Demonstrate, classify, and employ an all-hazards approach to interdisciplinary relationships in the contemporary emergency service environment.
PSLO2: Appraise risk, recognize and employ fire mitigation techniques and operate at a national level in the role of entry-level firefighter.
PSLO3: Identify and apply the elements and governmental levels of the National Response Framework specific to the Incident Command System (ICS), National Incident Management System (NIMS), Emergency Operations Center (EOC) throughout coursework.
PSLO4: Demonstrate, differentiate, and implement a comprehension of the physical, mental, interpersonal and leadership aspects of the emergency services professions and the competence to operate cohesively among people and communities from diverse backgrounds in a professional manner.
