Coursework is encouraged to pursue the Child Development Associate credential (CDA) awarded by the Council for Professional Recognition in Washington D.C. The Division of Child Care in Kentucky also acknowledges your educational advancement by offering additional certifications based on your education:  Commonwealth Child Care Credential (CCCC) and the Kentucky Director’s Credential.

Accreditation

The Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education program at WKCTC is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Accreditation of Early Childhood Higher Education Programs. The program meets the Accreditation Standards through four indicators: documented learning opportunities, key assessments, data on candidate performance on key assessments, and the use of data to improve the program in relation to accreditation standards. Each student will gain understanding of the cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development of children from birth through age five. Corresponding field experiences throughout the community help prepare students with the knowledge and competencies of research-based best practices.
